Hull
City 0-1 Leicester City

KC Stadium is home of Hull City, oh and Hull FC!
Our long trip to Hull started early in the morning at 8am and reaching our
first stop in Retford, Notts at 9:30am. Retford
United and Worksop Town both play at Cannon Park which has a capacity of
2000 (According to Wikipedia!!). We then continued to reach Gainsborough at
10am. Gainsborough Trinity plays
at The Northolme which has a capacity of 4304. Goole was our next stop and we
got there an hour later. Goole
play at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds (The VPG) which holds 3000. At 11:30am we
found ourselves in North Ferriby. North
Ferriby United play at Grange Lane (the Rapid Solicitors stadium) which
has a capacity of 2700. We then went to the Hessle viewpoint of the Humber
Bridge to take a few shots before entering Hull and visiting Boothferry Park, previous home of Hull
City. Hull City moved out of Boothferry Park in 2003 to the KC Stadium. In
January 2010, the majority of the ground was demolished due to several arson
attacks on the historic site. On our visit, the six floodlight pylons were
still standing tall over a crumbling, over grown Boothferry Park. We later
realised we were seen on the site when I (Ross) found a webcam of Boothferry
Park which contained a 24hour time-lapse of the previous day!

We then travelled across the city, even having a very
brief chat with Radio Leicester’s Ian Stringer and former City player Alan
Young who were also stationary at a set of traffic lights, and were lost! We
visited Hull KR’s Craven Park before making our way back towards the KC Stadium
and parking up. When we got into the ground and then I queued for a hot
chocolate for myself and a tea for Adrian, which came to a rip-off total of
£4.00, yep £2.00 for each hot drink! They still think they are a Premiership
Club with Premiership prices. We later realised it was cheaper to by half a
pint of beer at £1.50, how does that work out compared to hot drinks!!

Anyway end of rant; we walked down to our seats
which were 4 rows from the bottom (Not a bad view) to find ourselves being
deafened by the extremely loud music coming from the PA system above us for at
least 45 minutes.

The game saw Leicester win by a single goal by
Darius Vassell in the First Half against a very poor Hull City side managed by
former Foxes manager Nigel Pearson (Thanks for the nice welcome in your
programme notes Nigel! sarcasm). Unfortunately the game also saw Leicester’s
promising loaned Left Back Greg Cunningham being subbed in the second half
after an unfortunate tackle by Liam Rosenior which saw him sent off and we
later found out Greg had actually broken his leg and could be out for about 4
months.

After the game we got out the KC and out of Hull in
good time and both got home just after 7pm.

Overall I enjoyed my day up in Hull and our visits
on the way. Even better, we beat Nigel Pearson and got a much needed away win!
